Easter Duathlon

This year’s Easter Duathlon will take place on Saturday 13th April at Balloch Woods – Scottish School of Forestry car park. The timed course will be in a run-bike-run format with both loops on forest tracks – there are a couple of short sections for which it would be recommended to have a mountain bike. The distances are approximately 4km run and 10km bike (Garmin profiles are available on the Facebook page). The full challenge will be to complete as an individual but relay teams of 2 or 3 are also welcome.

Registration is from 9.30am, the start will be at 10am.

All competitors must ensure their bike is in a safe condition and a helmet must be worn while riding.

The event is open to all ages – under 16s must have an adult at the event with them. By entering the event you accept that you are fit to take part.

Alness Aquathlon

Saturday 18th May – First heat at 3pm, Registration and course walk at 1.30pm

For those of you who are reaching for the dictionary or about to cut and paste it into google an aquathlon is a continuous race with a swim and a run. The idea is to leave the pool and transition – put on a pair of shoes – straight into the run but as this might be a daunting idea for some newcomers to multi-sports we don’t mind if you want to towel dry and get dressed… but the clock keeps ticking between the pool and the park!

Alness Swimming Pool provides a beautiful venue for this continuous swim/run race. The swim takes place in the 25m pool and the run is mainly on track and pavement along the riverside. The run is a 1.5km loop.

Distances are:

200m swim / 1.5km run

400m swim / 3km run

750m swim / 4.5km run

Either distance can be completed by individuals or as a relay.

The run course will not be marshalled and will have minimal signage therefore it is recommended that you walk the 1.5km loop prior to the race. A full map and instructions will be issued at registration.

Entry is FREE but you need to register with an estimated swim time. Please be as accurate as possible, it is recommended that you time the distance in a 25m pool. It is important that swimmers are placed in appropriate lanes for their speed for the safety and enjoyment of all.

Midsummer Duathlon

Thursday 20th June – 6.30pm registration for 7pm start

Make the most of the long summer nights by taking part in a Midsummer’s Night Duathlon! The course will consist of a 1/2 mile run loop and 1 mile bike loop on trails. You have one hour to do as many laps as you can. The event can be done individually or in a pair and is suitable for children as well as big children!

Farr Duathlon

Farr Duathlon will take place at Farr Hall, near Inverarnie on Friday 23rd August. This is a light-hearted, come and try event with a new twist devised by Ewan for 2013!

The course will consist of a 4km run (mixed terain including road and forestry track) and 16km road bike loop (http://runkeeper.com/new/route?updateRoute=1506531), finishing by repeating the run. As the route is on roads the duathlon is restricted to participants who have obtained their 14th birthday. You can have had a lot more birthdays than this too!

Registration will open at 6pm. The event is free to take part but as always donations towards costs are always appreciated! If you are bringing anyone along with you who would be willing to help marshal please let us know at info@triathloninverness.co.uk.

Afterwards stay to socialise with other members, bring your friends and family too. Beautiful home-baking will be available as always, along with tea, coffee and juice. If you want anything stronger you will have to bring that yourself!

“Small print” – 14 years and over, cycling helmets must be worn throughout the bike section. By entering you certify to your good health and ability to compete in a physically demanding event, as well as the good health of your bicycle.
