Inverness Aquathlon
Saturday 6th July
For those of you who are reaching for the dictionary or about to cut and paste it into google an aquathlon is a continuous race with a swim and a run. The idea is to leave the pool and transition – put on a pair of shoes – straight into the run but as this might be a daunting idea for some newcomers to multi-sports we don’t mind if you want to towel dry before getting dressed… but the clock keeps ticking between the pool and the park!
Inverness Leisure provides an impressive venue for this continuous swim/run race. The swim takes place in the 25m Competition Pool and the run is mainly on track and pavement, with the finish on the Queen’s Park track.
Competitiors are grouped by age (at 31st December 2013) and different age groups complete different distances as outlined below:
| Category | Age | Swim | Run |
| TriStars Start | 8 | 50m | 600m |
| TriStar 1 | 9-10 | 150m | 1500m |
| TriStar 2 | 11-12 | 250m | 2000m |
| TriStar 3 | 13-14 | 400m | 3000m |
| Youth | 15-16 | 400m | 3000m |
| Adult | 17 + | 400m | 3000m |
To enter you need to provide an estimated swim time. Please be as accurate as possible, it is recommended that you time the distance in a 25m pool. You can update your swim time by email until the closing date. It is important that swimmers are placed in appropriate lanes for their speed for the safety and enjoyment of all.
